Our Services
Oculus Studio is regional, interdisciplinary design firm that provides complete architectural, interior design and product design services to corporate, retail, recreational, hospitality and residential clients. Our projects span a wide range of scale, from single-family residence to multi-storey office projects. Regardless of the scale or nature of a project, we meticulously approach each one with the same discipline and insight.
Since its founding in 1998, Oculus Studio have completed numerous projects across the nation and the Southeast Asia region. Prior to the founding of Oculus Studio, both partners, Mr. Antonius Santoso and M. Winnie Alamsjah, have worked in various architectural design firms in various cities across the U.S., which includes San Francisco, Boston and New York City, with diverse project experiences in urban planning, architecture, interior design and space planning.
Our design approach is a constant dialogue that fully engages the client every step of the way- we inquire and listen to their needs. This informed collaboration appropriates the physical solutions informed through a thorough understanding of the project’s requirements and its unique site parameters. Our goal is to reveal each project’s singular nature and to discover through design an identity that is unique and memorable to each project.
Our Design Philosophy
Since its inception in 1998, Oculus Studio has, over the course of a range of projects, built our design practice on an inquisitive and creative way of thinking about architecture rather than developing a trademark style. Constantly mindful of the environmental impact of our architectural and design interventions, we approach each project as a platform to impart our experience within its context and culture. Each unique project then informs the next, building up a library of knowledge that helps free us from conventional, stylistic approach to design.
Our design work draws its inspiration not from the grandiose and the monumental, but rather from within the larger existential context, and in our extrapolation of the extraordinary from the ordinary, everyday life experiences. Site, climate, client’s needs and program sets the stage for us to compose a story of how the space unfolds, and to insert unexpected moments of surprises along the way. Each of these elements come together to form a coherent entity, abiding by the rules of design, and yet transmuted through the constant negotiations, collaborations and executions we call the design-build process to impart their own distinctive flavors and uniqueness to the project. We design the spatial framework and invite others to design their own experiences.
